History, Mission and Goals
VMC’s mission is to be an agent of change in our community, to purposefully connect volunteers and organizations to solve our community needs. Since 1973, when VMC was established as the Voluntary Action Center, we have worked toward honoring our mission by recruiting, training and referring volunteers to charities where their assistance and abilities are needed most. While promoting civic engagement among corporations, community service organizations, youth, families and individuals, we are fostering a culture of service, citizenship and responsibility.
Our goals are to continue to:
- Expand opportunities for quality volunteer experiences.
- Expand and improve community volunteerism by raising awareness and providing community education and ongoing training.
- Effectively serve as an advocate for and expert on the development of effective volunteerism to meet community needs.
- Develop more connections with and collaborations between non-profit agencies to foster improved management practices and service delivery.
- Expand non-profit training and education programs becoming the “go to” source for all non-profit management and volunteer needs.
- Assure that the homebound elderly and disabled in our community are safe and cared for in their own homes.
- Assume a leadership role in improving the understanding and use of technology by non-profit organizations.
